I stayed there last year and I really liked it. There are a couple of things that he did not list in his post.
First, he also has rafting and kyaking. The hostel is maybe 100 feet away from a river, and you can take rafting/kyaking trips of various durations (1/2 day - full day) and he will pick you up/drop you off. You could do a zero day there and do that as a welcome relief from the trail.
Second, there was a coffee shop next to the hostel when I was there, and a good espresso is hard to beat.
Third, the place is a couple of miles from town, but he runs a shuttle to town for dinner and other stuff, or you can borrow one of his bikes for free.
Fourth, he has a decent selection of trail food and gear for sale, so if you need to replace a stove or sleeping pad or even a pack, the stuff is there.
Finally, and I really appreciated this -- the showers, restroom, and grounds were very, very clean.

I stayed in the bunk house but if I'm ever there again, I'll spend the few extra bucks and stay in one of the little cabins. Nothing wrong with the bunk house, but I don't like to listen to people snore.

we stayed there in 2007 he went out of his way to help us with a pack situation. It was a great place, clean and well run. prices reasonable, the shuttle to town great. the cabins are very nice. five out of five stars!
